North West Highlands Geopark
With world-class landscapes, geology and cultural heritage. Visitor centre on the A894 the road to Ullapool, Knockan Crag exhibition south of Elphin, guided walks throughout the summer.
HANDA ISLAND
A Scottish Wildlife Trust Bird Reserve on a beautiful island reached by a boat trip from Tarbet which is about 8km from Scourie.
KYLESKU
Boat trips to the highest waterfall in Britain which has a drop of 658 feet.
Kylesku is a 9 mile drive south from Scourie.
LOCHINVER
Lochinver coastal route is a must with beautiful scenic views. Along this route there is a road which leads to the Point of Stoer and its lighthouse. The famous sea stack – ‘The old Man of Stoer’ can be reached by a 3km walk from Stoer Lighthouse. Lochinver is a small fishing village. You may also visit Highland Stoneware where visitors are welcome to see the working pottery.
INCHNADAMPH
A small hamlet on the A894 has a 3km walk to the ‘ Inchnadamph Bone Caves’ bones of extinct animals found during an excavation of polar bear, brown bear, arctic fox and Lynx native to the area before the last Ice Age.
SANDWOOD BAY
An 8km walk to a magnificent beach. The walk is rewarded by one of the finest views in Britain.
SMOO CAVE – DURNESS
Huge limestone cavern with three compartments. Walk way and boat trips.
THE FIVE MOUNTAINS
Within a short driving distance you can reach each of these beautiful mountains
Foinaven, Arkle, Stack, Quinag and Suilven.
